Morning view from Bright Angel Point on the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
My Photograph of the Day is Sandbridge Morning. Sandbridge beach is one of a number of beaches in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This photograph is of a beautiful sunrise with sand dunes and the gentle washing of the waves on the beach.
My Photograph of the Day is Red Rock Views. Sedona, Arizona, is known for it's red rock. This photograph is one example of a shot of the beautiful red rock found in the area.

The sun finally began to peak over the horizon, and I set up for this shot and waited for the sun to arise to the top of the pine tree at the rim. Now the Grand Canyon here looks very different from the other views further down the canyon. The rim here is far apart and the layers and layers of buttes and mesas seem endless.

As I have noted in other Photographs of the Day that I used to live in Virginia Beach, which meant that I would occasionally head out to the beach before daylight hoping to catch a colorful morning sunrise. I love heading to the beach during predawn, when the ocean is calm and peaceful, the waves are lapping along the shoreline,…
What I love about sunrise - and it is the same here in Arizona in the desert - is how the colors of the rising sun reflect on the clouds. You can watch the colors travel across the sky and it is amazing to see. This particular morning I really wanted to catch the clouds light up with the first light which often colors the clouds a beautiful purple before turning red and then orange and then finally yellow.
On this particular morning, it was chilly and there was no wind, which meant that I might be able to catch a nice sunrise. There were sufficient clouds in the sky to help add to the overall photograph I had envisioned in my head. I find that the quality of light is very different in the fall-winter-spring months as the sun is closer to the horizon for a longer time than during the late spring-summer-early fall months
We were at the Grand Canyon, and went out early before dawn to Mather Point to catch the sunrise. It was a cold day and the wind was blowing something fierce. And when we arrived we found ourselves among a gaggle of tourist and photographers all vying for a glimpse of the sunrise to the East. [et_bloom_inline optin_id=optin_4] Mather Point…
This was my first time at Mesa Arch. I had never been there, although I had seen Tom Till's photograph of the arch and I knew that I really wanted to take a similar photograph. And I knew instinctively that I would have to arrive early to ensure a good spot. We were staying in Moab, and having driven to…
I left my home in Virginia Beach around 3 am. I was heading for the tidal pool area of Washington DC to capture some of the beauty of the cherry blossoms. After a several hour drive up I-95, I finally arrived. Parked the car and began my trek to the walkway around the tidal pool. Once I arrived, the pre-dawn…
