It was my daughter who first noticed the signs. We had been walking around Florence Italy for the past day, visiting the museums and just enjoying a good gelato when she noticed the signs. In all of our wanderings, through the plazas, down to the river and the Ponte Vecchio Bridge, drinking wine at a sidewalk cafe, we never noticed the signs.Once she spotted one, we then began to notice the signs everywhere we looked. It became like a game to see if we could spot one.

This past summer we met our daughter in Rome Italy. She had spent a year teaching English in South Korea, so we decided since she hadn't been to Europe that we would meet in Rome and travel around for a couple of weeks. On our third day in Rome, we finally made it to the Roman Forum!  When I was…

My Photograph of the Day: A Row of Busts

We visited Europe this past summer, and met our daughter in Rome, Italy.  We stayed in Rome for several days, and of course, you need to visit the Vatican Museum when you visit Rome! The place is incredible, just the amount of artwork in that museum could potentially take days to really explore. But we only had half a day. And so in that half a day we saw a lot of ancient relics of the Roman past.

My Photograph of the Day: Trevi Fountain

What would a visit to Rome be without a visit to the famous Trevi Fountain. Located in the Trevi district of Rome (where else would it be located!), and was designed by the famous Italian architect Nicola Salvi. It is reportedly the largest baroque fountain in the city of Rome and one of the most famous fountains in the world.

Impressions of Italy: Firenze

A quick review of my travels to Firenze, or Florence, Italy. Florence is the home to some great renaissance art, being the home to both the Uffizi Museum and the Academy, the home of David by Michelangelo. Not to mention the catherdral, the Ponte Vecchio bridge, and the list of sites to visit goes on!
