Sandbridge beach early morning, the sun in the clouds looks like an eye – Nature’s Eye.
On one of my last photography trips along the beaches of Virginia Beach, I came across this piece of driftwood along the beach.
The weather was perfect, cloudy, but not enough to prevent the sun from shining through and providing what another famous nature and landscape photographer calls ‘god beams.’ This shot had plenty of ‘god beams’ from the sunlight piercing through the clouds.
The beach was perfect, the sand all washed from seaweed and the like thanks to a early morning storm. And it was one of my favorite visits to Sandbridge Beach. The peacefulness, the calm, the serenity – just me and the Atlantic and of course, the driftwood which became my foreground interest in this beautiful and dreamy shot.
I really loved this scene, and in my mind's eye I envisioned a soft and mellow photograph, one that captured for me the feeling I felt that morning on the beach.
I took this shot using my Canon 5D Mark II with my Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 lens set at a focal length of 24mm. The exposure was set at f/16 at 1/125 second shutter with my ISO of course set at 100.
I then processed this photograph in Adobe Lightroom and then finished up in Adobe Photoshop using Nik (now DxO) Color Efx Pro filter, using the soft focus filter to give the overall photograph it's soft look and feel.
