Angkor Wat was everything I'd imagined it was. Temples after temples reaching back into time. Ta Prohm was perhaps one of my favorite temple complexes. It is temple complex where the jungle has encroached and has begun to reclaim the area once again. It is simply an amazing place to visit and to photograph. This artwork is one such print I was able to create from Ta Prohm.

A cloister at Ta Prohm at Angkor Wat Archaeological Park, Siem Reap, Cambodia.

It was towards the end of our day at Angkor Wat when we finally reached Ta Prohm. Ta Prohm is a temple complex from the 12th century that has been overgrown by the jungle as the it had tried to reclaim the area.

I was simply amazed by the roots of the great trees that reached up high as the roots reached out wide.  In this artwork of a cloister along the side of one of the Ta Prohm temples you can see the huge root of a nearby tree running along the base of the walkway, lifting it up this way and that way.

The jungle and it's encroachment, adds to the mystic of the place, it is at once beautiful as it is foreboding. You almost feel like you will see some of the temple areas fall in on itself as the trees continue their reclamation.

Being late afternoon, the sun was low enough to cast a wonderful glow of light on the uplifted stonework, adding a wonderful cast to the photograph.

This is a place I'd like to return to again, and spend more time photographing the wonderful ruins and imagine what it was like back in the day when it was in it's full glory!

If you like this artwork and would love to have it hanging on your walls, head over to my Fine Art America website and select your options.  If you get a print, Fine Art America can even mat and frame your piece of art so it will be ready to hang on your wall when you receive it![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

for Purchase

A little about me . . .

Back in 1982, my Air Force roommate was in desperate need of some cash, and he had a camera. And I was in the market for a camera as I had TDY (Temporary Duty) orders for Cyprus and was looking for a good camera to take with me. So over some beers and some negotiations with my roommate (and a few hundred dollars later), I found that I had become the owner of a brand spanking new Canon AE-1 camera with an assortment of lens, including a Canon 50mm, a 35mm lens, as well as a telephoto lens.

Fast forward to today, and I am now an owner of a Canon 5D Mark II (looking to upgrade, but can't decide on my next camera) and a bunch of Canon glass and I am primarily a landscape and travel photographer. Yea, that means that I get up before the sun rises and am out after the sun sets. Makes for interesting times!

Thank you for joining me on this photographic journey and hope to hear from you!

Peace,
