My Photograph of the Day: Side Door

Sedona is an interesting place. If you have never been, it is well worth the visit. It is at once old and modern, traditional and new age. It is a paradox. So on a lark, we stopped by Tlapaqueque Arts and Crafts Village just down the hill from the center of town, down at Oak Creek. It is a shopping mecca in Sedona. What I loved about the place is the architecture and the small village look and feel. It is designed to mimic colonial Spanish architecture, and it does a wonderful job.

Driving around on the dirt road just southwest of Sedona, one sees a lot of beautiful rock formations. This is of course why Sedona is famous, the red rock and the new age shops that line the main drag in downtown Sedona. But just as famous as the red rock formations, the trails and the hiking, and the new age crystals are the ancient ruins of ancestors of the native peoples of the area.
